AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you're looking for ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this weekend, there are a few events commemorating the day around Central Texas this weekend. Cinco de Mayo , or the fifth of May, celebrates the date of the Mexican army's May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. Fiesta will celebrate its 49th annual Cinco de Mayo at Fiesta Gardens on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m., and the event is free for everyone under 12.
